The Board strongly discourages student absence from school except when illness or other urgent reasons prevent the child from attending, however, the Board recognizes that some non-school sponsored educational trips/experiences for students may enhance and enrich the learning opportunities provided in the district's schools. Therefore, students may be allowed to be absent from school during the designated school year for such educational trips/experiences provided that the following procedure is followed in requesting and granting permission for such trips/experiences. Board Policy 204.1 permits up to seven cumulative days for educational trips per school year for no more than three educational trips/experiences.
The principal of each student request will respond to approve the educational trip for that student.
