“Practica Z” is a judgment free event where people can develop and improve their dance skills with friendly people alike. We focus on popular partner dance styles, such as Salsa, Swing, Bachata, Tango and much more. Each of our events centers on one particular topic, and provides multiple level classes to meet the needs of our community, we conclude the event with an open party where people will get the opportunity to practice and develop their skills as leaders and/or followers.
On Saturday Dec 20, DJ Angel Ortiz and Edwin Roa will be hosting the “Christmas Edition Salsa” at Elegant Dancing in Fairfax VA. Participants will be able to join three levels of classes followed by a practice party.
All for $50 per person, or $25 per session.
Session 1 - “Sabor a Salsa” - 7 to 7:45pm
Intermediate Level Salsa class
This particular class will focus on musicality and connection. Students will be taught amalgamations that will work with various hand holds and frame connections. We will explore concepts of timing (syncopation and hesitations), plus we will study partnering work such as counterbalancing. Proper dance shoes are strongly suggested. Partners are encouraged, but not essential.
Session 2 - “Salsa Picante” - 7:45pm to 8:30pm
Int/Advance Level Salsa class
Ideal for upper levels, this class focuses on dynamic movement and sharing axes, we will explore turning elements such as Spins and Spirals. We will work on dynamic movement and speed. Students will learn practical and fun amalgamations. Proper dance shoes are strongly suggested. Experience is required, partners are strongly encouraged.
Session 3 - “Echale Salsita” - 8:30pm to 11:30pm
This session will begin with a 30 minute introductory lesson for anyone new to this style of dance. After that, the floor will be open for general dance. Students will be encouraged to explore ideas and practice their own repertoire. DJ Angel Ortiz will provide the music. It is important to note that this session will be open to all levels, and we will encourage participants to socialize with everyone and exchange partners.
