CAMS Clinician Training Application

This training opportunity is for behavioral health clinicians providing direct care, assessment and treatment. Applications are accepted through December 13, 2024. Notifications regarding the status of submitted applications will be delivered via email mid to late December.

The training is presented by CAMS Care, consultant-trainers.

Fully covered by the Behavioral Health Workforce Training Clearinghouse. Please responsibly commit to this training due to limited seats based on cost of program.

CAMS Overview:

The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) is a therapeutic framework for suicide-specific assessment and treatment of a client’s suicidal risk. It is a flexible approach that can be used across theoretical orientations and disciplines for a wide range of suicidal clients across treatment settings and different treatment modalities. The clinician and client engage in a highly interactive assessment process and the client is actively involved in the development of their own treatment plan. This evidence-based clinical training is designed to equip behavioral health clinicians with the knowledge and skills to be able to conduct a suicide-specific assessment and provide treatment of a patient’s suicidal risk.

CAMS for Clinicians Training Series:

The CAMS for Clinicians Training Series involves 4 concrete learning experiences that progressively build upon one another over time. A commitment to the completion of the 4 learning experiences is REQUIRED upon application acceptance.

1. Completion of an introductory online foundational video course is strongly recommended prior to attending the virtual training day, February 11th 8:30am-4:30pm.

2. Completion of the electronic CAMS book (approximately 9 hours) is strongly recommended by prior to attending the virtual training day, February 11th 8:30am-4:30pm.

3. All-day virtual role play training attendance and participation (February 11th 8:30am-4:30 pm via Zoom, full day REQUIRED)

4. Attendance and participation to four consultation calls (TBD via Zoom following virtual role play training) 1-hour virtual meetings

Learners will receive a CAMS Trained designation following completion of these requirements in the training series.

Continuing Education Credits:

Continuing Education Credits are available for Counselors (NBCC), Psychologists (APA), and Social Workers (NASW). Many other licensed professionals have found that their licensing body accept CAMS-Care CE Credits, for example Marriage and Family Counselors. Check with your licensing organization to verify they accept the CE credits.

* The BH Workforce Training Clearinghouse covers ALL costs associated with this training and the option to elect CE credits. CE credits for the training are offered by CAMS-Care.

CAMS for Clinicians Training Series consists of 4 REQUIRED, sequential components:

completion of e-book," Managing Suicide Risk, a Collaborative Approach"
attendance and participation to 8 hour virtual training, February 11th 8:30-4:30
attendance and participation to four 1-hour virtual consultation calls (total of four hours).

Accepted applications will be given permission to the training series. Upon acceptance to the training series, learners will receive access to the CAMS book, " Managing Suicide Risk, a Collaborative Approach" and the foundational video course prerequisite with the recommendation of completion prior to the virtual role play training, February 11th.
