Students going on a study abroad course must pay a $1000 non-refundable deposit to secure their participation in the course. Deposits, either online or in the form of a check payable to Millsaps College, must be handed to the Business Office by 1st November for winter courses and by 1st March for summer courses. For spring courses with a trip abroad over spring break, a $250 non-refundable deposit is required before registration; a second non-refundable deposit of $250 is due on 15 December; and a third non-refundable deposit of $500 is due on the first day of spring classes. In all cases, if a class is cancelled, the deposit will be returned to the student. If a student no longer wishes to participate in the course and the deadline for submitting the deposit has passed, the deposit will not be reimbursed to the student.

Students who have been awarded a Robinson, an Ogden, or a Millsaps Study Abroad Scholarship must pay a refundable deposit to secure their participation in the course. In order to participate in a faculty-led study abroad course, students must be in good standing with the College. This includes academic, conduct and financial good standing. By signing below, you give permission to the Office of International Education to verify your standing with the appropriate offices on campus. Your eligibility for studying abroad will then be determined by the Office of International Education. If approved to study abroad, you will be required to participate in a pre-departure orientation prior to your course abroad.

Submitting your application to a study abroad course means that you understand and agree to the following: I understand that when I register for any class at Millsaps College or receive any service from Millsaps College I accept full responsibility to pay all tuition, fees and other associated costs assessed as a result of my registration and/or receipt of services. I further understand and agree that my registration and acceptance of these terms constitutes an agreement (i.e., a financial obligation in the form of an educational loan as defined by the U.S. Bankruptcy Code at 11 U.S.C. §523(a)(8)) in which Millsaps College is providing me educational services, deferring some or all of my payment obligation for those services, and I promise to pay for all assessed tuition, fees, and other associated costs by the assigned due date.

Should a student withdraw from a study abroad course, the student will be responsible for paying for all expenses incurred on their behalf. The deadline to withdraw from a course with no obligation to reimburse the College for expenses incurred is 1st December for winter courses and 1st April for summer courses. For spring courses with a trip abroad over spring break, the deadline is the same as the last day for schedule changes without grade. I understand and agree that if I withdraw from a study abroad course after the deadlines stated here, I will be responsible for reimbursing the College for all expenses incurred on my behalf.
