Please use this form to submit your letter of recommendation for applicants to the 2026 Beinecke Scholarship. Applicants are required to provide three letters of recommendation.
The Beinecke Scholarship, a program of the Sperry Fund, provides $35,000 to juniors planning to pursue graduate study in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. The Sperry Fund will award approximately 16 scholarships in 2026; 120+ schools are each allowed to nominate one applicant. Beinecke Scholars receive $5,000 prior to entering graduate school, and upon entering graduate school, $15,000 per year for the first two years of study. The selection process is extremely competitive. Most of the previous recipients were at the top of their class academically and many planned to pursue careers in college teaching and/or research. However, there is no specific preference given to nominees who plan to pursue doctoral studies as opposed to those who plan to pursue a master's degree. Students in the social sciences who plan to pursue graduate study in neuroscience or a professional degree (i.e., law, public policy) should not apply for a Beinecke Scholarship.
Briefly explain to the selection committee the nominee's intellectual curiosity, character, and potential for advanced graduate study. Please upload your letter on letterhead and address it to the "Beinecke Scholarship Selection Committee."
The deadline for submission of the letter is Noon, Friday, March 6, 2026.
