Christian Neighbors is located at 282 12th Street in Plainwell. We will be a VITA Tax site for the 2027 tax season. We are in need of volunteers for various positions.

Volunteer details are outlined below. Our site helps seniors, veterans, disabled folks, and families with simple tax preparation.

Families and individuals must be under a certain income guideline to get their taxes done for free through the VITA tax program at Christian Neighbors.

Intake/Receptionist Volunteer

Greet participants and help them feel at ease
Manage the intake process by checking in participants and ensuring they have the required documents to begin a return
Provide customer service with emptahy and compassion
Serve as a liaison between the participant and site coordinator to help with any issues or questions that arise at intake

Tax Preparer (Simple taxes)

Complete required training and certification exam
Review intake documents with participants and prepare tax returns using our software
