With a focus on racially and culturally affirming practices, Buffalo Prep advocates for educational access and equity and provides programming to academically ambitious scholars of color. We strive to nurture our scholars’ brilliance while empowering them to engage civically as their authentic selves.
Prep Scholars Academy (PSA) is a neighborhood-based culturally relevant academic program designed to help scholars excel throughout middle school and prepare them for high school. This exciting, engaging, and active learning program strives to help scholars transition into and complete high school by providing academic preparation, as well as scholar and family support. PSA takes place in the heart of the West Side at D’Youville University; it gives preference to Hispanic/Latino scholars and offers bilingual instruction. The 2025 summer session will start July 7 and run Monday-Friday from 8:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. until August 8.

For your scholar to be considered, please complete the following steps:
- Complete and submit this application
- Submit an essay written by your scholar. We'll provide topics after receiving your application
- Turn in a signed Academic Records Request Form to the Main office at your scholar's school(s)
- Ask two teachers for recommendations and provide them with the Teacher Recommendation Form which will be sent home in your application packet
- Upload financial records (1040) Click here for income eligibilty guidelines. If you have them, you can upload your tax documents at the end of this application
After we receive your application, we will mail you a packet with information on how to complete these steps. Additionally, a representative from our office will be in touch to help answer any remianing questions.

Financial Uploads

For your scholar to be considered, we must confirm your income by reviewing financial records (1040's) from any financially responsible adult. These documents do not need to be submitted today, but if you have electronic copies, you're welcome to upload them below.
