• The submission requirements form part of the Terms & Conditions.
• You must be 18 years of age or over and a NSW resident.
• You must be under the age of 30 at the closing date for applications, 17 November 2024.
• You must not have had a novel-length work of fiction or narrative non-fiction professionally published or accepted for publication in print or digital formats.
• If you have had short works published in print or online you are eligible to apply.
• Submitted material must be your own original work and cannot contain AI-generated material.
• Submitted work must be in English.
• If your entry is selected for the subsidised Year of the Novel 2025 course, you agree to pay $850 for your participation. A payment plan can be arranged.
• The dedicated writing space will be offered to you for one mutually-agreed upon month during the course of 2025 in the Shared Writing Space at Callan Park, Lilyfield. The Year of the Novel course will also be held in person at Callan Park, Lilyfield. The winner will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the venue.
• Writing NSW does not guarantee publication of any work produced as a result of participation in this program.
• The decision of the judges is final. The judges will not enter into any correspondence and no individual feedback will be provided to entrants.
• By applying to this program you opt in to the marketing database of Writing NSW and agree to receive marketing information from us. You may opt out of this marketing database at any time.
• Successful applicants agree to assist Writing NSW promotions, including provision of quotes for use in publicity and reporting.
• Writing NSW staff and Board members are not eligible to apply.
