2025 Maola Scholarship Application

For students pursuing a two or four-year degree OR graduate degree.
Maola Local Dairies is now accepting scholarship applications for students pursuing careers in the dairy industry. Applicants must be enrolled in a two or four-year accredited college or a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree or Ph.D. in dairy science and must be one of the following:
- The child or grandchild of a Maola member
- An employee of a Maola member
- The child of a Maola employee
Scholarship Details:

The application information is evaluated by a scholarship committee composed of an external review panel. The recommendations of the scholarship committee are summarized by Maola staff and the scholarships are then awarded. $5,000 in scholarships will be given out based on the following criteria:

Undergraduate:
- Commitment to a career in the dairy industry
- Evidence of leadership ability, initiative, character and integrity
- Participation in extracurricular activities
- Academic performance
- Answers to 3 Dairy Industry Related Essay Questions
Graduate:
- Commitment to a career in the dairy industry.
- Research Summary that shows evidence of dairy-related research that will allow the U.S. dairy industry to better address the problem outline in their research.
- Academic performance.
All applications are due February 21.

There are countless examples of how dairy farmers care for the environment and serve as stewards of our land and water resources. Because of the industry’s efforts in leading the conversation when it comes to climate change and dairy’s role, our members are well-positioned to showcase to the public, policymakers, and industry stakeholders that dairy farmers are part of the solution to climate change concerns. In 400 words or less tell us what are some examples of dairy farms reducing their environmental footprint? *
As curators of dairy goodness, Maryland & Virginia’s dairy farmers and co-op employees are dedicated to providing consumers with fresh, wholesome and delicious milk and dairy products. How do you envision your future career will positively benefit our cooperative and the larger dairy industry?*
Today’s consumers often believe misinformation about agriculture that they see through social media or TV commercials. In 250 words or less give an example of how you have promoted the dairy industry to the public, or stood up for the dairy industry to a member of the public that did not fully understand. *
