• AYSO Region 13 All Star & Thanksgiving Tournament Coach Application (MY24)

    Please use this form to apply to AYSO Region 13 as an All Star coach.

  • Please register your interest in becoming an All Star Coach in AYSO Region 13 for MY24 (the season runs from January to March). There is a selection process for All Star Coaches so filling out this form is not a guarantee that you will be selected to be an All Star Coach.

    The All Star program is governed by Area 1C and the program rules can be found here. Please review the program rules thoroughly, especially if you have not participated in the program before. The program requires a higher level of engagement on part of the volunteers so please ensure you can make the necessary commitment.

    The Thanksgiving Tournament will be held on Nov 28 - Dec 1 in Pasadena. This is a highly competitive tournament hosted by Region 13 and draws teams from all over Southern California. 

    Tryouts Times & Locations

    • November 3rd, 2024
    • November 10th, 2024 (Rain make up)

  • Selection Process:

    • Submit completed form by October 11th (and you will receive an email confirmation).
    • All applications will be distributed to appropriate Region 13 officials for review, verification of information, and recommendations regarding coach placement.
    • The Evaluation Committee will review the applications and all related information, and make the final selection and assignment of coaches. Selection will be made by majority vote. The committee is composed of the Regional Commissioner, Assistant Regional Commissioner, Regional Coach Administrator, Regional Referee Administrator, the Advanced Play Coordinator, and the respective Division Coach Administrator.

    Qualification Requirements*:

    • 10U: 12U cert required for all teams (Intermediate certification preferred for Sectional and Area).
    • 12U: Intermediate certification required for all teams (Advanced certification preferred for Sectional and Area).
    • 14U: Advanced certification required.

    Selection Criteria:

    Candidates will be evaluated by the same standards as fall season coaches are, along with additional considerations germane to the All-Star/ Tournament program. The Evaluation Committee will favorably consider candidates who:

    • Demonstrably advocate and place into action the AYSO philosophy
    • Have devoted more time as an AYSO volunteer
    • Have higher coaching certification
    • Communicate more effectively with his/her team
    • Have not received cautions and/or ejections from the field by referees in regional play and/or tournaments outside Region 13
    • Have demonstrated timely compliance with administrative procedures
    • Are available for coaching a Thanksgiving tournament team
    • Are committed to providing post All Star season (i.e., Spring Cup and/or spring/summer tournament season) play opportunities for his/her team

    * 12U, Intermediate and Advanced Coach training are offered in January at the Area 1/C Roadshow so you can level up your coach training at that time. The coaching advancement path is as follows:
