Scholarship Application 2026
The Bishop George D. McKinney Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to serving their communities. Through services, resources, and scholarships, we empower young people to achieve their educational and professional goals and cultivate leaders who contribute positively to society.

Step #1 (ensure you meet minimum qualifications)

       1.   Member of Southern California 2nd Jurisdiction

       2.    Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5

       3.    Completed 25 hours of church/community service

       4.    Acceptance to an Accredited School, College, or University

Step #2 Apply for Scholarship

1. Completed application

2. Upload an autobiographical personal statement

4. Upload a recent photo of the candidate (jpeg, png, pdf)

5. Upload the Official transcript from your school's Registrar’s Office

6. Upload proof of acceptance to an Accredited School, College, or

University

7. Upload proof of 25 hours of church/community service

8. Have recommenders complete the recommendation form

Step #3 Application Deadline
- All items must be submitted by Saturday, May 9, 2026
  - Late or incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered
Step #4 What will happen next?

1. All qualified applicants will be notified of their interview date by May 16, 2026. The interviews will occur between May 30, 2026 and June 6, 2026.

2. Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 8, 2026.

3. Scholarship Awards will be presented at the Annual Bishop Banquet on June 21, 2026. Recipients and their families are highly encouraged to attend the Annual Bishop Banquet.

Personal Statement: This is your opportunity to convey important information about yourself to the Scholarship Committee. Include comments regarding your goals (personal, academic, professional), extra-curricular activities and volunteer involvement.
- All statements must be typed.
- The statement must be saved as a Word document (doc, docx) or PDF document.
- There is no page minimum, but it should not exceed two pages.
- Formatting: Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double-spaced.
- Please do not use AI (ChatGPT or Grammarly).
Letters of recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required. One letter should be from a member of 2nd Jurisdiction (i.e., Superintendent, Pastor, Youth leader, etc.). One letter should be from a community member (i.e., a principal, counselor, teacher, professor, or other community member.) Provide recommenders with the recommendation link below to complete the form. They will have the opportunity to provide an evaluation and upload their letter of recommendation. Letters should be saved as a Word document (doc, docx) or PDF document.
