Class of 2025 Scholarship Application
Welcome to the application for the Class of 2025 Giovanni Vitrano Memorial Scholarships. The application window opens on October 29, 2024, and closes at the end of the day on January 31, 2025. For the Class of 2025, we will award $10,000 in the following amounts:
- First place: $6,000
- 1st Runner-up: $2,000
- 2nd Runner-up: $2,000
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a high school senior, graduating in the Class of 2025.
- Have a GPA of 3.2 or better as of January 31, 2025 (Transcript may be requested later for verification).
- Have played soccer at the Varsity High School or equivalent club level.
- Be a resident of Florida in the Tallahassee, FL media market, as listed in the verification question below.

Scholarship Application Quality Checklist
Before submitting your application, we encourage you to pause and check for the following:

Does your application demonstrate the following qualities?
- Drive: Show how you go the extra mile academically and athletically
- Leadership: Highlight your role as a peer role model
- Resilience: Describe challenges overcome in pursuing education
- Community Engagement: Showcase your involvement in school/community
- Impact: Explain how this scholarship would significantly affect your education
- Academic Achievement: Emphasize strong grades, honors, and scholastic involvement
Additionally:
- Ensure all details are current and accurate.
- Ensure your academic, athletic, and community achievements are well described.
- Ensure you have listed three references. We will contact these references if you are selected as a finalist.
- Ensure your essay follows the instructed three-paragraph format. It should clearly state a soccer lesson, and the writing should be personal and engaging.
- Ensure your essay avoids common topics like "hard work" or "teamwork". While those are important lessons, many applicants choose those topics and it's difficult to stand out from the crowd.
- Check that your application tells a cohesive story about your accomplishments, and lets your unique qualities shine through.
