In 1971, C. Victor Thornton, Potentate of Moslah Shrine Temple in 1959, Imperial Potentate of the Shrine of North America in 1971-72 and Chairman of Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children from 1977 to 1982, had the vision of adding ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS to the Shriners Hospitals Endowment Fund.

Since opening the first hospital in 1922, Shriners Children's has been devoted to providing high-quality specialty medical care to the children and families who come to Shriners, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status. A century later, the commitment hasn’t changed — only expanded.

Shriners three-part mission has one goal: to change and improve lives. They do that by caring for patients, conducting research to gain knowledge and develop new treatments, and providing educational opportunities for physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Shriners Children's is committed to reaching as many children as possible, wherever they may live, and offering them unique, patient-centered, wraparound care.
