Thank you for your interest in Build 2 Lead's P.O.W.E.R Council. Build 2 Lead is an organization that focuses on creating platforms that empower community members to speak TRUTH behind their experiences in the systems of criminal justice, education, and healthcare, while becoming advocates for change through building solutions to these problems. Please carefully read the below information regarding our initative and your application. Thank you for your interest!
Goals of Our P.O.W.E.R Council:
1. Listen and Learn from community members, providers, and those who operate within in the system of healthcare.
2. Empower community members and providers to build solutions to the most pressing issues discussed in our P.O.W.E.R Listening Sessions.
3. Cultivate spaces of continued learning, advocacy, and intentional/targeted connection for BIPOC community members and BIPOC healthcare providers.

P.O.W.E.R Council Declaration of Candidacy:
Committing to our council demands a significant investment of time and energy. Candidates should carefully weigh their personal priorities for the upcoming year against their ability to contribute to the council's growth and B2L's organizational development.

Application Process:
- Complete and submit the P.O.W.E.R Council application along with your resume. You may attach your resume at the bottom of this form or email it to jbrown@build2lead.org or nmessiah@build2lead.org. Please use "NEW P.O.W.E.R COUNCIL MEMBER APPLICATION" as the email subject.
- The application copies will be shared with current P.O.W.E.R members to review your intended contributions to the organization's efforts.
Qualifications for Service and Time Considerations
Qualifications for service
- Commitment to furthering the P.O.W.E.R Councils mission to dismantle and recreate the system of healthcare to better serve BIPOC communities.
- Interest in and willingness to support our overall goals and objectives.
- Ability to easily use email and other technology, such as cloud services.
- Commitment to open and honest communication.
- Able to fulfill the role for a two-year term.
- Must have a current occupation or role in a healthcare organization, health and wellness initiative, or educate BIPOC community on holistic health and wellness.
Time Considerations
- P.O.W.E.R Council Meetings: Once every month for a maximum of 2.0 hours.
- Quarterly/Bi-Quarterly Events: Total planning time of about 9-12 hours per event and 3-6 hours for participating/volunteering for events.
- Rotation for funder monthly check-ins: Up to 60 minutes when in attendance.
- Yearly retreat: 4-6 hours depending on planning needs and availability of all partners.
