All are welcome to participate in this night-time holiday parade through historic downtown Chesterton! Lineup is at 4:00 p.m. and step off is at 5:15 p.m. Battery-operated lights are encouraged for both marchers and vehicles.
All parade entries should enter off Porter Avenue at the Westchester Township History Museum and proceed to the right behind the Duneland YMCA Healthy Living Campus (formerly Chesterton Middle School). Lineup will face towards Morgan Avenue. The parade route will be heading north onto 6th Street, east on Broadway, south on Calumet Road, and west on Porter Avenue back to the Museum entrance behind Chesterton Middle School. Chamber staff will be at lineup to help coordinate and direct the order of parade entries. Limit of two vehicles or 65 feet, whichever is less (will be strictly enfroced). Space is limited due to construction at the campus and safety is of the upmost importance).
PLEASE WATCH FOR PEDESTRIANS AT ALL TIMES
IMPORTANT: No vehicle that is not actually riding in the parade will be allowed in any area of the parking lot during setup. If walkers or riders are joining you, they will have to park on the street and walk to your float space. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. Volunteers will be at each entrance to enforce this.
_________________________________
Deadline for parade applications is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14. We will notify you by Friday, November 22 with your unit number. Since Santa and Mrs. Claus is our parade’s big finish, we’d request NO SANTAS or MRS CLAUS be on any other floats. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a great event for our community!
Special Note: If you have a large group in your unit, please advise them of the unit number in which to meet so parents and children know where to report.
QUIET ZONE ACKOWLEDGMENT
We are pleased to continue offering a "Quiet Zone" between 2nd and 3rd Street on Porter Ave, passing Chesterton United Methodist Church. This area is designated for children and adults with sound sensitivities, ensuring they can fully enjoy our parade experience. In the Quiet Zone, we kindly request that all participants:
- Refrain from blowing horns.
- Refrain from playing instruments.
- Lower music volume (if safe and feasible).
