WHAT IS AN OPERATING COMMITTEE AND WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ITS MEMBERS?
The operating committee deals with the operational functions at a strategic level.
An operating committee reviews, oversees and guides the overall operationsof an organization.
The committee members develop insight into the operations and suggest strategic directions for the organizations policy implementation.
Operating committee members will meet monthly to discuss issues and concerns that may arise and will need to be addressed. Members will also provide feedback to senior and executive management.
OPERATIONS COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
Review: reviewing the organizations policies and procedures and updating as necessary.
Advisory: Recommendations on technology needs, saftey policies and procedures, possible equipment needed, etc.
Oversight: Evaluate proposals, methods, and new strategies related to organizational operations, processes, and policies.
Meeting focus: Analyzing reports, minutes, and research materials submitted by senior management.
Leadership and management: Ability to lead and manage projects, teams, and initiatives effectively.
Strategic Planning: Skills in developing and implementing long-term strategies to achieve organizational goals.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, including staff, volunteers and donors.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze situations, and develop effective solutions.
Organizational Skills: Proficiency in organizing tasks, managing time, and prioritizing responsibilities.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work well with others, fostering a collaboritive environment.
Technology Skills: Proficient in Word, Excel, Spreadsheets, database software, e-mail, video conferencing, etc.
