Support COMMUNITY POWERHOUSE: Demand that the Lancaster School District restore the volunteer status of Reverend Wright which was revoked without just cause or reason. Allow Community Powerhouse to continue its programs with existing POWERHOUSE staff.

We, the concerned parents, guardians, and community members, are deeply troubled by the recent decision of the Lancaster School District to revoke the current status of “volunteer” from Reverend Wright as a lead instructor for Community Powerhouse at A.R. Rucker Middle School. For nine years, the Community Powerhouse has provided essential support to our children through various programs that enhance their academic success, emotional well-being, and overall development. This decision negatively impacts the very students who benefit most from these services.
We ask that the Lancaster School District reconsider its decision and allow Reverend Wright and Community Powerhouse to continue their work in the Lancaster County Schools outlined above.
Our Program Works:
- Supporting Mental and Emotional Health: In addition to academic support, the Community Powerhouse provides our young males emotional support that is more important than ever, especially post-pandemic.
- Proven Track Record: Community Powerhouse has a long-standing reputation for making a positive impact on student outcomes, with results showing improved engagement, attendance, and academic performance in schools where they have been allowed to operate.
- Community and Parent Involvement: Parents have seen firsthand the positive difference that the Community Powerhouse has made in their children's lives. As tax-paying members of this district, we believe that we should have a say in which resources are available to our students/children.
Our Demand:
We call on the Lancaster School District to immediately reverse its decision and allow Community Powerhouse and Reverend Wright to resume its vital services within our schools. Our children's futures depend on access to all available resources, and this program is an essential part of that support network.
