Internal Family Systems (IFS) coaching is an evidence based therapeutic healing model founded by Dick Schwartz, PhD in the 1980s. IFS helps to reintegrate the parts of ourselves that appear to be in conflict. IFS allows for a healthy, functioning whole self of an individual. IFS works to remedy the internal contradictions that arise from the complexity of life. It is a compassionate, client-led model that provides a non-shaming environment for all parts of an individual to be heard, healed and integrated. It combines systems thinking with the view that the individual is made up of many different thoughts, feelings, needs, and behaviors; each with its own unique viewpoint and qualities. IFS uses family systems theory to understand how these collections of subpersonalities are organized.
