Join the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi (JCCH) and Konko Mission of Wahiawa for this year-end custom as we prepare to ring in the Year of the Snake!
Mochi (rice cake made from glutinous mochi rice) is one of the most important traditional foods for the Japanese New Year representing strength, longevity and purity. Registered participants will experience mochi pounding hands-on, learn to fashion their own mochi, and will take home komochi (plain) and mochi with azuki (red bean paste)! Viewing of the demonstration will be open to the public. Advance registration is required for hands-on participation.

Every participant must register individually and complete the photo release and waiver form. Minors under the age of 18 require parental consent.
4-hour parking validation for the JCCH parking structure is included with registration. The parking entrance is located at 2454 South Beretania Street.
