  • Austin Modern Quilt Guild Documentation Day Signup

    Saturday, February 8, 2025
  • The nonprofit Quilt Alliance is thrilled to visit the Austin Modern Quilt Guild for a Documentation Day event, collecting quilt stories as 3-minute videos as well as longer oral histories.

We invite any AMQG member to sign up for a 15-minute time slot to record a short "Go Tell It!" video with your quilt on the show floor. The Go Tell It! format is very similar to a guild show and tell session--one person talks about one quilt for three minutes or less. For an idea of what these videos are like, watch videos in this Go Tell It! YouTube playlist.

As the Teller, you will stand beside the quilt and say whatever you like--it's totally up to you--whatever you would like to say about it for three minutes or less. All quilts shared will be featured and shared in the Go Tell It! video collection on the Quilt Alliance YouTube Channel.

We will also offer the chance to record Quilters Save Our Stories (QSOS) interviews. These are longer interviews with an interviewer and interviewee who sit down together to talk about the interviewee's entire quiltmaking history. They start with one quilt -- the touchstone quilt -- and take more of a life-story approach through the lens of quilting. See QSOS interviews online at qsos.quiltalliance.org
