As a valued member of the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy, your voice matters. We invite you to take part in our Membership Survey and Bylaws Amendments Vote to help shape the future of the Academy.

While all members (PT, PTA, SPT) are invited to complete the survey and share feedback on our programs, membership benefits, and resources, only PT and PTA members are eligible to vote on the bylaws amendments which are included at the end of this survey. If you are a Student member, please note that you will not see the bylaws section in this form.

In 2024, APTA introduced model bylaws as a guide for Academies and Sections, aiming to enhance consistency and alignment between APTA's bylaws and those of its affiliated organizations. The majority of the proposed amendments are editorial, ensuring alignment with the model bylaws language and best practices. Notable changes include updates regarding the appointment and election of delegate positions to the House of Delegates and the addition of an Ethics Liaison. We encourage you to review the proposed bylaw amendments provided in the ballot carefully.

Mission & Vision Statements

We need your input on the Academy’s potential changes to its mission and vision statements. The last time we significantly updated the mission and vision was in 2014 which was over 10 years ago. The profession has evolved since then prompting us to reassess these statements in light of the profession’s and the Academy’s evolution.
MISSION STATEMENT REVISION
- Current Mission Statement: To advance global excellence in abdominal and pelvic health through evidence-based practice, innovative education, research, and social responsibility.
- New Mission Statement: Advancing pelvic and abdominal health physical therapy to elevate the profession, empower individuals, and serve society.
- Justification for Changes: The inclusion of our specialty discipline’s name is vital to our mission and uniquely distinguishes us from others. This revised mission statement is shorter and more memorable for stakeholders. As a membership organization, we strive to ensure member inclusion while focusing on elevating the profession. Unlike the previous mission, which listed some but not all pillars, this new mission casts a wider net over future pillars and strategic priorities without limiting us. This mission statement change aligns with the Academy’s shift from topic-specific board positions to more general titles in hopes to remove siloes across its strategic pillars. Education, research, and practice will continue to be strategic priorities for the Academy and will now be outlined in the strategic framework with the other pillars.
VISION STATEMENT REVISION
- Current Vision Statement: As a global authority in abdominal and pelvic health, we transform society by empowering professionals and people everywhere.
- New Vision Statement: A world where everyone enjoys optimal pelvic and abdominal health.
- Justification for Changes: In our vision, we want to communicate our ultimate desired goal. The pelvic and abdominal health landscape is global. Different countries have different associations dedicated to pelvic health physical therapy. While we contribute to the global momentum, we are not here to assert dominance or authority over the globe or other countries. Our intent is to partner and collaborate more with other organizations. This new vision statement is shorter and more memorable for our stakeholders and follows the format of other nonprofit associations.
