Project Proposal Guidelines: We invite the submission of white papers/ mini proposals that outline potential research projects aligned with the goals of this program. Each submission should include the following sections with no more than two pages in total length: 1. Title of the Project 2. A one to two paragraph summary of the project, including research objectives. Describe the geoscience research questions your team plans to address in the El Paso community and surrounding region. Provide any relevant background information. 3. A paragraph on methodology, including a description of the research methods, data collection, and analysis plans. 4. A paragraph on community partners that will or could participate in and benefit from the project. Explain how your project will benefit the community and align with the goals of CIELO-G and its collective impact model. The CIELO-G project team members can try to help you identify a partnership, if desired. 5. Timeline: Provide a tentative schedule for the project execution over the two-year period (including expected publication). 6. Budget: Include a brief budget outlining the financial requirements for the project.

Student: A commitment letter from your proposed mentor in the project, that includes information on how your work within CIELO-G will be used as your thesis and/or chapter in your dissertation. It is strongly encouraged to discuss your white paper with your mentor before submission.
