Kansas Home Educators is proud to offer homeschooled graduates and their families the opportunity to participate in a graduation ceremony. The very fact that you (both the student and the parent!) will soon reach graduation day signifies that you have been willing to follow the Lord's leading down roads less traveled.
The primary intention of this ceremony is to honor the Lord God who made homeschooling possible for your family. We ask for the graduate and their families to review the following information:
Homeschool Graduates should have attended a homeschool for at least the last two years. If the graduate has homeschooled less than two years because of extenuating circumstances, an appeal may be submitted to the KSHE board for further consideration.
Per the Homeschool Legal Defence, homeschooling is defined as education that is primarily home based, parent directed and customized to meet the child’s and the family’s needs.
Virtual charter schools controlled by the public school system (such as K12, Insight, etc…) are not considered as home schools by Kansas Home Educators (KSHE) or Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). For more information search for “virtual charter schools” at http://www.hslda.org. HSLDA’s website states “HSLDA does not provide legal services in connection with children enrolled in any such public school options.” (referring to virtual charter schools or public school independent study programs)
