Date: 18 January 2025
Time: 10.30am - 4pm [light lunch will be provided]
Venue: Lutheran Community Care Services (Address: 3779 Jalan Bukit Merah #02-01 S159462)
About the session:
What stories come to your mind when you are asked tell a story about a personal experience of relationship violence? When we asked students from Institutes of Higher Learning for stories, we heard stories of harm caused and harm experienced. We want to challenge the idea that relationship violence only happens to certain individuals and certain types of relationships. Relationship violence can happen to anyone and it is our business to dialogue about it.
This community-building circle is a forum for us to examine what we and our communities can do to break cycles of relationship violence and to gain skills and tools for yourself. Join this community building circle to ask questions, share your wisdom, and learn more about using restorative approaches to mitigate harms, and advocate for systems change.
About Let Our Voice Run:
Let Our Voice Run focuses on creating dialogue spaces and taking a proactive approach to address abusive behaviours experienced by young adults in Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL). Relationship violence can happen to anyone, be it between romantic partners or in the context of academic work, hostel residential life, extracurricular activities on campus with acquaintances or strangers. When traumatic stress resulting from harm is not processed, it affects our mental well-being and ability to relate to others healthily. Relationship violence can happen to anyone and it is everybody’s business to foster respectful relationships and to build a safe campus environment for learning.
