  • NDI DREAM Project Teacher Training Application

    August 12th - August 15th, 2025
  • The NDI DREAM Project Teaching Artist Training will give you a hands-on, empowering introduction to NDI's teaching techniques and philosophy for working with children with disabilities using dance and live music to engage every child. We will spend the mornings actively observing the NDI DREAM Project, which will include a group of children with a wide range of developmental disabilities and their age-matched peers, all between the ages of 6 and 18. In the afternoons, we will put the techniques into practice. You will emerge from this advanced training with new strategies to ensure equitable inclusion and maximize participation for all dancers; tools to effectively differentiate instruction and highlight and develop the abilities of every dancer in an ensemble; techniques for crafting choreography and performances of artistic excellence; connections to the larger field of disability and the arts; and experience collaborating with non-arts professionals to serve and support the learning, achievement, and joy of every child.

The NDI DREAM Project Training will be led by NDI Artistic Director Kay Gayner, Board Certified Pediatric Physical Therapist Agnes McConlogue Ferro, and a team of NDI teaching artists and administrators.

All of our work will take place at the National Dance Institute Center for Learning & the Arts in Central Harlem and will culminate in a performance for families and the larger community at the end of the week.
