If entering before the January list has been released, please provide your latest (November or December 2024) rating. If your rating in the subsequent January 2025 list disqualifies you from the section you have entered, we will email you before the event and let you know that you will need to transfer to a different section.

RP will take precedence over LP ones except where the RP one is provisional and the LP one is considered a more accurate reflection of the player's ability.

All ratings used will be subject to the discretion of the organizers.

Ungraded players must give details of their strength, previous results and any previous rating. Except in the Open section, they may only win one half of the first or second place prize.

The Open Section is open to all players regardless of rating, and as such is the section contested by the strongest players.

If you are new to over-the-board chess and ungraded, please enter the section you think is most appropriate for you and we will try to determine whether we agree! If we think you have entered the wrong section we will contact you before the event.

Explanation of the First-Round Half-Point Bye:

If you request a Half-Point Bye in the First Round then you won't be paired (won't have a game) in the first round, but will receive a half-point (as though you had played and drawn).

Most players do not use this option, but it can be used by those who would find it difficult to arrive at the venue in time for the first round (10.00 am).
