  • California Custom Fruits & Flavors recognizes that some employees may need or want to hold additional jobs outside their employment with the CCFF. All potential candidates for employment with CCFF must carefully consider the demands that additional work activity will create outside employment with CCFF.     Additionally, all hourly employees of California Custom Fruits & Flavors who obtain employment in our Production and Supply Chain Departments must understand the necessity to be able to lift 50 LBS and work overtime. Regarding overtime, our goal is to ensure associates are gainfully employed for 40 hours a week, but oftentimes overtime is necessary for the success of the business and will be required.

    Background Check and Pre-Employment Drug Test Policy and Procedure

    Under the rights granted by California Employment Law and Indiana State Law, California Custom Fruits and Flavors shall drug test and conduct a comprehensive background check of all prospective employees. Any offer of employment is contingent upon a thorough review of the results from the background check and drug test. Background checks include:

    • Social Security Verification: validates the applicant's Social Security number, date of birth, and former addresses.

    • Prior Employment Verification: confirms applicant's employment with the listed companies, including dates of employment, position(s) held, and additional information available pertaining to performance rating, the reason for departure, and eligibility for rehire.

    • Personal and Professional References: calls will be placed to individuals listed as references by the applicant.

    • Criminal History: includes a review of criminal convictions and probation. Thefollowing factors will be considered for applicants with a criminal history: 

      1. The nature of the crime and its relationship to the position.
      2. The time since the conviction.
      3. The number of convictions. 
      4. If hiring the applicant would pose an unreasonable risk to the business, its employees, or its customers and vendors.

    If an applicant begins employment before the background check or drug test results are available, California Custom Fruits and Flavors reserves the right to immediately terminate employment with the applicant/employee based on its review of the results received with no consequence to the company nor indemnity afforded the applicant/employee.
