      • Register online with a NC driver’s license or state ID through Friday, October 11 at 5pm.
      • Register to vote in person at your early voting site during the early voting period, Thursday Oct 17 through Saturday Nov 2, 2024
      • Registering to vote through the DMV online will update your driver’s license address to your school address.
      • Look for an on-campus voter registration drive to fill out your paper registration form and turn it in right there. Volunteers can submit it to the County for you before the deadline.
      • You may also fill out the NC Voter Registration form on your computer, print it, sign it with a pen and hand deliver it to your County Board of Elections.
    • Register during Early Voting (Oct 17 - Nov 2)
      Register to vote in person starting October 17th at the same time as Early Voting!

      • You only need to know your birth date and social security number to register to vote.

        • Your Duke College ID is all you need if you live on campus.
        • Duke students living off campus can provide a Duke-issued document (invoice, transcript, correspondence, or a print-out or screenshot displaying your name and residential address) AND an approved Duke ID card.

      • Confirm you are registered to vote before Friday Nov 2, 2024 or register during Early Voting. You must already be registered to vote on Election Day.
      • Your Duke College ID is all you need for Voter ID.
      • Vote Early in the Day: The polls are open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.
      • If you are in line when the polls close, stay in line. Anyone in line must be allowed to vote by law.
      1. You have the right to vote from study abroad or out of state location in every election.
      2. Visit Vote from Abroad to vote from abroad or overseas and have your vote count in Pennsylvania. Don't hesitate to use the chat icon at the bottom of their page for live help.
      3. Active-duty military and military families stationed anywhere in the US or abroad should visit FVAP.GOV to get your military ballot.

    • We do not recommend absentee or voting by mail-in ballot in North Carolina when Early Voting or Election Day voting at the polls is a possibility. Mail-in-ballots have very specific instructions and can be “spoiled” if not filled out correctly.

      To vote by mail or absentee in North Carolina seek help from a Studentvote.Info volunteer by emailing contact@studentvote.info.

    • Detailed instructions for voting by mail from the North Carolina Elections Board are included located here and please note these tips.
      • Be sure you fill out the inner envelope EXACTLY correctly.
      • You need 2 witnesses who must put their information in the right place on the envelope.
      • Mail your ballot no later than Friday Oct 25 using 3 forever stamps to give it time to arrive by Tuesday Nov 2024.
      • There are no drop boxes in North Carolina, so to return a local mail-in ballot in person, drop it off at your County Board of Elections or to an Early Voting site no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. There is no grace period for late ballots.
      • You may not return your ballot to a polling place on Election Day.
