AFFILIATE MEMBER AGREEMENT

The British Functional Fitness Federation (BF3) is the National Governing Body (NGB) for competitive functional fitness in the United Kingdom. Our vision is a sustainable sport that benefits all stakeholders in our community, in support of the government's broader objectives of getting more people active and healthy. Our mission is to achieve official recognition by the Sports Councils of the home nations that competitive functional fitness is a genuine sport, enabling the BF3 to seek public funding for our Whole Sport Plan. Our endstate is a professional sport, providing a commercially viable structure for athletes, coaches and support staff, technical officials, and gym/business owners to pursue their interests. We are a founding member of the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3), the International Federation leading NGBs in pursuit of participation in the sport programme of the Olympics in Brisbane in 2032.

What is a BF3 Affiliate?

A BF3 Affiliate is an officially incorporated gym or club that wishes to partner with the BF3 to achieve our vision, mission and endstate, and our common goals (purposes Why affiliate? Affiliation is a way of bringing the community together to achieve common goals. Only by working together, through the governance structures established by the BF3, can we create a sustainable sport that benefits everyone and not just commercial interests.

What am I supporting by becoming a BF3 Affiliate?

You are supporting the general physical preparedness training methodology as the best way to generate functional fitness. You are also supporting the sport of competitive functional fitness that tests an athlete's all-round athletic ability in a competitive situation. You are supporting the values of community ownership of our sport and of clean sport. Finally, you are supporting the BF3 to achieve its purposes.

How does affiliation help my gym or club?

The benefits come once our sport has been recognised. Public funding for the BF3’s Whole Sport Plan will make grants and other sources of funding available to our member clubs.

Are there any requirements to become a BF3 Affiliate?

Yes, there are some simple requirements/commitments to become a BF3 Affiliate.

• You are genuinely passionate about promotingwellness and activity.
• you support Clean Sport.
• You have friendly and knowledgeable staff who help people achieve their fitness goals.
• You maintain high ethical standards and createan inclusive culture.
• You support the International Functional Fitness Federation’s attempt to achieve Olympic statusfor our sport.
• You support our vision, mission, endstate and purposes.
• You believe that we can be successful!

Coaching Requirements

Commitment to Coaching Qualifications

As part of this agreement, the Affiliate Gym commits to ensuring that at least one member of its coaching staff undertakes the BF3 Coaching Qualifications within 12 months of their official launch in 2025. The Affiliate Gym acknowledges that these qualifications are designed to maintain and enhance coaching standards aligned with the principles of the BF3. Failure to comply with this commitment may result in a review of the Affiliate Gym’s status within the Federation.

Community Requirements

• You commit to helping us to grow our affiliate numbers through recruiting your peers.
• You commit to being an advocate for our purposes with your membership.
• You will provide anonymised data (see over) to map the community scope and scale.

Affiliate Agreement

In signing this agreement, you are confirming assent to each of the following clauses.

1. You meet the suitability, coaching and community requirements and will continue to do so throughout the term of this agreement.
2. You understand that we are a growing all-volunteer organisation operating at best effort and with a very small budget – we do what we can to the best of our ability.
3. Either party may terminate this agreement at any time with effect of the receipt of a written request.
4. You agree to act fairly, honestly and with integrity in relation to your dealings with us and the community (we make the same commitment to you).
5. You agree to strive to enhance the reputation and standing of the sport among the community and among other sports more broadly.
6. You agree to help BF3 to collect data on the community to map the scope and scale of the community as part of our application for official recognition for our sport. This information will be handled in accordance with all Data Protection laws.

This agreement is governed by English law, and the Courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with this agreement.
