  • Home office expenses

  • From 1 July 2022 you can calculate your working from home expenses using either the revised fixed rate method ($0.67 per hour), or the actual costs method.

Revised fixed rate method – You no longer need a dedicated home office to use this method. The revised fixed rate method includes data and internet, mobile and home phone usage, electricity and gas, computer consumables (e.g., printer ink), and stationery. The revised fix rate method does not include depreciating assets (e.g., computers and office furniture), repairs and maintenance of these assets, and cleaning. These can be claimed separately.

Actual costs method – Allows you to claim a deduction for the actual expenses incurred whilst working from home.  The actual cost method requires more detailed record keeping, and evidence of how you’ve apportioned work and private usage.
