Cheer Nova Scotia (CNS) has several successful Judge Trainers, trained by Cheer Canada. These trainers in turn, train new judges in NS.
We are continually looking to expand the number of judges located in Nova Scotia and therefore are seeking individuals who are interested in being trained as a CNS Judge. You would take the program as designed by Cheer Canada and Cheer Nova Scotia and then be certified by Cheer Canada to be a judge. You would not be limited to judging in only Nova Scotia; however, part of this program is to build a competent group of local Cheer Nova Scotia judges.
The training will take place on Saturday, Jan 4 and Sunday, Jan 5, in-person in Sydney, NS. Please see tentative schedule below:
Jan 4
INTRO TO JUDGING- all participants.
Welcome, proposed judges pathway, best practices, overview of comparative scoring, tools and resources, overview of the electronic scoring system, next steps to becoming a CNS official.
Scoring Tumbling and Jumps/ Practice (includes all star, cheer abilities, prep, novice and scholastic) Optional.
Scoring Deductions/ Practice (includes all star, cheer abilities, prep, novice and scholastic) Optional.
Overview of Skill and Common Legality Identification. Optional.
Jan 5
Scoring Building/ Practice (includes all star, cheer abilities, prep, novice and scholastic) Optional.
Scoring Overall/ Practice (includes all star, cheer abilities, prep, novice and scholastic) Optional.
IF SELECTED, the cost to participate in the training is a flat fee of $110, which can be sent via emt to payments@cheerns.com - Comment your full name and reason for payment. Payment MUST be made prior to the session - Payment Deadline (January 3, 2025). No refunds unless cancelled by CNS.
Once applications are reviewed, you will be notified if you have been selected via the contact info you provide below.
Note: The cost to take the Judge exams is determined by Cheer Canada and subject to change. In the past the cost was $10/section (I.e. Building, Tumbling, etc.). The exams are not required, but to be certified these must be completed and passed.
Note that Legality Certification is only administrated by the IASF. Cheer Canada and Cheer NS do not certify judges in legalities/Safety.
