    Position Summary
    Arcus Community Resources (“Arcus”) specializes in the care of individuals with complex medical needs to live in a community. The Community Care Worker (CCW) plays an important role in the care, guidance, teaching and support of the clients in our care.

    The CCW is responsible for providing compassionate and high-quality care services that align with Arcus' mission, vision, values pledge, and quality of life service standards. This role supports individuals in community home settings, ensuring their well-being through consistent care, professional documentation, and adherence to regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities
    ·         Delivering day, evening, and night support to clients in care home settings.

    ·         Foster a supportive and caring environment that enhances the client’s quality of life in line with Arcus’ mission and values.

    ·         Maintain accurate and professional documentation of client-level and service unit-level information daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual.

    ·         Ensure both electronic and paper files are up-to-date and securely stored according to organizational policies.

    ·         Identify, encourage, and support activities, initiatives, projects, and tasks that improve service delivery.

    ·         Participate actively in service unit-level and organization-level continuous quality improvement activities and initiatives.

    ·         Adhere to all relevant government laws and regulations, including the Residential Care Regulations under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Work Safe BC standards.

    ·         Attend appropriate training sessions, in-services, and recertification programs to maintain professional competency.

    ·         Stay updated with best practices in caregiving in community housing.

    General Duties
    ·         Housekeeping (not limited to)

    o   Cleaning (Dusting, Mopping and Vacuuming)

    o   Laundry (ironing and folding away)

    o   Cooking

    o   Tidying Drawers and Closets

    o   Dishwashing

    o   Bed Making

    o   Bathtub cleaning

    ·         Medication Administration (Oral and Tube) –  must be passed by a Nurse

    ·         Feeding (Oral and Tube) –  must be passed by a Nurse

    ·         Caring for clients with the following medical needs (list not exhaustive) – must be passed by a Nurse:

    o   Trachesotomy

    o   Ventilators

    o   Gastrostomy

    o   Naso-Gastric

    o   Suctioning

    o   Dialysis

    o   Seizure

    ·         Client’s personal care and hygiene (list not exhaustive):

    o   Hair brushing

    o   Teeth care

    o   Spa treatment

    o   Bathing

    o   Toileting

    o   Dressing

    ·         Use of mechanical lift system for transferring and/or repositioning of clients

    ·         Pushing clients in specialized wheelchairs

    ·         Supporting client with exercise and walking programs

    ·         Driving wheelchair-modified vehicle to take client/s on outings, including use of vehicle tie downs (requires class 4 license)

    ·         Administrative Duties including:

    o   Charting

    o   Filing (various reports)

    o   Monthly Summaries

    o   Inventories (house and/or clients)

    ·         Other light duties including:

    o   Reading to clients

    o   Clean/disinfect/charge machines (WISPA, suction, feeding pumps, humidifier, etc.) Check O2 cylinders

    o   Wash slings after each bath (hang to dry)

    o   Grocery shopping

    o   Clean wheelchairs/pump up tires/other minor maintenance check

    o   Clean/wash house vehicle

    o   Wash syringes, med cups, feedbags after each use (dry and put away) Garbage/recycling

    o   Carpet/furniture spot cleaning

    o   Stock bedrooms and bathrooms with supplies

    o   Bring in stock from storage

    On-Going Requirements:
    ·         Maintains professional competency by attending appropriate training, in-services and recertification of skills and clearances:

    o   Clear National drivers record (annually)

    o   First Aid/CPR Level C certification (every 3 years)

    o   Caring for Food Safe online course (every 5 years)

    o   Criminal record clearance (every 5 years)

    o   HUB clearance (working with children and youth (every 3 years))

    ·         Maintain a clean national driver’s record and a valid Class IV or Class V motor vehicle license

    Qualifications

    Hiring Requirements:

    ·         Must be Nineteen years of age or older

    ·         BCGEU membership

    ·         Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Class 4 is required to post in a position at specific programs/sites.

    ·         English Language Proficiency (spoken and written)

    ·         Signed Oath of Confidentiality

    ·         Health Authority required non-tuberculosis assurance clearance (TB test)

    ·         Health Authority required Immunization Record/Declaration, proof of being Double Vaccinated for Covid-19

    ·         Signed Employee Declaration of being physically and mentally capable to perform the job of a Behaviour Interventionist.

    ·         Reference review clearance

    ·         Work flexibility clearance
