    Applications will close on December 28, 2025 by 2359. No late applications will be accepted. Please clear January 5-9 for First Responder Interviews on Zoom. 

    Questions to prepare that will appear on Page 5:

    However, if you are to be offered a position, the completion and accreditation of your BLS certification is required by orientation on August 30, 2025.

  • The recipient must complete an initial EMT-B education course that is compliant with AZDHS and NREMT standards before the Spring 2026 semester begins at The University of Arizona. or Recipient must achieve NREMT certification as an EMT-B and Arizona state licensure as an EMCT.*
  • The recipient must complete their “first responder” and “probationary” periods with UAEMS. The first responder period is defined as the completion of one academic term while associated with UAEMS. Recipients will be required at minimum to attend eight trainings (defined as a two-hour UAEMS-hosted event with a focus on skills development), attend four classroom sessions, meet four times with their FTO (about once a month), attend Base Hospital and all specialty trainings, and attend one general meeting per month. The probationary period is defined in UAEMS administrative policy 303.*
  • UAEMS responds to all 9-1-1 calls, medical in nature, at the University of Arizona Main Campus. I acknowledge my understanding that there are many known and unknown dangers and/or risks associated with responding to 9-1-1 calls while working in an emergency medical service, including but not limited to exposure to infectious diseases (such as AIDS, Hepatitis, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID- 19) ), potentially hazardous materials, proximity to subjects detained by law enforcement, operations of emergency vehicles in potentially substandard weather conditions. All of which may lead to serious bodily harm or death.*

    Important Timeline Details:

    If selected for an interview, please prepare for interviews to be held on August 24-29. Decisions for acceptances will be out by the same week. 

    IMPORTANT: If you are not enrolled in EMD 147 for the Fall 2025 term, and you recieve the First Responder scholarship, you will need to take the class in either the Fall 2025 term or the Winter 2025 term. The Winter 2025 EMT class would need to be obtained at a non-UA institution and would need to be sought and enrolled in by the recipient.

    Orientation: If selected, orientation will be held August 30, 8am to 3pm. Shift work will begin September 1st.
