CineStory Alumni Residency Application

2025 ALUMNI RESIDENCY APPLICATION

This application is due no later than 5 pm Pacific Time on February 3, 2025.
General
Alumni residencies are designed to give writers the time and space to write and build community in a uniquely CineStory way. The residencies take place over eight days in the beautiful mountains of Idyllwild, California. Participants enjoy private bedrooms, private baths, and three meals per day, plus group spaces to write, meet in small groups, and socialize as a community.

Every day includes some structured time for generative writing exercises, story breaking sessions, and social time, but participants devote most of their time to writing, away from the demands of everyday life.

Residencies are open to anyone who has attended one or more CineStory retreats (feature or TV) as a writer. If you do not meet this criteria, you will be disqualified from consideration.
Guidelines
- Eligibility: Anyone who has attended at least one CineStory retreat (feature or TV) as a writer may apply to attend a residency.
- Application Deadline: Applications are due no later than February 3, 2025 at 5 pm PT.
- Notification: Accepted writers will be notified via email by _______.
- Application Materials: Applicants must submit all of the following:
  - a short bio (up to 100 words);
  - a logline (up to 150 words) for the project they intend to pursue during the residency;
  - an artist's statement (up to 400 words); and
  - a work plan (up to 200 words).
- Evaluation: CineStory's executive and creative directors will make all residency decisions. Applicants will be evaluated primarily on the strength of their artist's statement and work plan. Applicants who do not satisfy all submission rules and guidelines automatically will be disqualified from consideration.
