While an umbrella school is not a requirement for homeschooling in the state of Tennessee, we understand the importance of valid and reliable record-keeping. Olive Branch partners with parents in their homeschooling journey. However we are not a school, therefore families must comply with the Tennessee Homeschooling law regarding umbrella school registration. (TCA-49.6) Our program is not independently accredited, but we are partnering with Tennessee Christian Academy to take the burden of grade and attendance reporting off the shoulders of parents. Our part time parents will still be able to login and report on their end of the schooling as needed.
You may choose another umbrella program if you absolutely must, but teachers will not be able to directly import grades/attendance FOR you. We are so excited about this partnership and the ease it will provide for parents. Another reason we are excited to partner with TCA is because they provide physical report cards for our students. We are all about communication and we feel this is a solid way to report back to parents on how things are going. OBE wants to be as transparent as possible to parents about how students are doing. We want zero discrepancies. Your children and their academic excellence matters. Tennessee Christian Academy wants what we want. We want to build a relationship with them that we can extend to our families. They are completely on board and in line with all the promises and commitments that we have and stand for. By partnering with an umbrella school, our program combines the freedom and innovation of homeschooling with the structure and recognition of traditional education. It’s about giving our students the best of both worlds, grounded in faith and nature! As always, email with any questions or concerns you may have!
