This is an introductory Eco-Somatic EMDR training.
Earth is the largest, most accessible and most forgotten of all coregulators. Earth holds us, supports us, nourishes us. Through cultivating an honest and reciprocol relationship with Earth, we can experience coregulation. Eco-Somatics invites us to ask ourselves: what if we viewed Earth as an extension of our bodies? In Ecotherapy circles and indigenous communities this is known as the Earth-Body or Ecological Self. Eco-Somatic EMDR incorporates the idea of the Ecological Self--mind, body and Earth--and how this connection coregulates-- into the 8 phases.
This training will provide therapists with information about an Eco-Somatic approach to EMDR, with focus on supporting the clients window of tolerance, dual awareness, adaptive information processing and overall healing. We will hone in on resourcing, supporting you in advancing your ability to prepare clients for processing phases with eco-somatics, which can then be used as interweaves during phase 4. While we will cover a brief introduction to Ecotherapy and Somatic Therapy, it is expected that participants engage in continued learning outside of this training in order to gain in depth holistic understanding of these approaches. EMDR Basic Training is a prerequisite for this course. If you are not already EMDR Trained, this course will not be suitable for you.
This training incorporates an intersectional lens, bringing together ecopsychology, somatic psychology, decolonization, social justice, and EMDR. It is our view that we cannot create a reciprocol relationship with mind, body and Earth without the inclusion of this lens, and therefore it is an important part of the training.
OBJECTIVES:
