2025 BURGMANN PRICE SCHOLARSHIP

CHARLES PRICE ENDOWMENT

Overview

Burgmann College has been awarded with the honor of presenting a scholarship to a deserving resident prior to the start of the academic year, on the behalf of, and in partnership with, the Charles Price Estate.

The Estate is acting in accordance of the wishes of the late Charles Price, who sought to contribute to Burgmann College with the development of future leaders. This scholarship has been generously provided by the Estate of the late Charles Price.

Eligibility

The Burgmann Scholarship Committee will select the recipient of this award from the eligible applicants. The eligible applicants for this scholarship must be

• Regional and/or Indigenous Australians; OR
• Australian residents who are recent or first-generation migrants to Australia;
• must reside at Burgmann College for the duration of the scholarship;
• must be undertaking an academic program at the ANU.

Selection Criteria

The Burgmann Price Scholarship will be awarded to the Burgmann resident based on academic merit, financial need and contribution to the community.

Application Process

Applicants must complete and submit the Burgmann Price Scholarship Application Form in which they should detail information about the course they are undertaking at the ANU, their need for financial support, discuss the applicant's contribution to the community, and how the scholarship would benefit them in the pursuit of their academic and leadership endeavours while at the ANU. In addition, the applicant must provide a one-page reference, either academic or professional, detailing the applicant's character, leadership, ethics, and eligibility. Academic Transcript(s) - must be included in order to weigh the applicants academic merit. Completed applications can be submitted via email or post as follows:

• Applications close Friday 3 January 2025 for Returning and New Residents
  No late applications will be accepted.
• Notification will occur by Monday 13 January 2025.

Further Information

The Burgmann Price Scholarship cannot be deferred; if the scholarship is not accepted, or the resident forfeits the scholarship, he/she will be eligible to reapply the following year. If the scholarship is deemed forfeit, it will be awarded to the next eligible applicant. If no applicant successfully meets the criteria, the scholarship will be withheld, and not awarded for that year. Previously awarded applicants are eligible to apply for the scholarship the following year.

Benefit

The Scholarship will be provided for one year to assist with the costs of accommodation at Burgmann College at while undertaking academic endeavours at the ANU.

Value

This Scholarship will be awarded to the value of $7,000 for the academic year.

SECTION A: FOR COMPLETION BY RESIDENT OR PROSPECTIVE RESIDENT

Please provide these items with your application:

• A copy of your most recent academic results (school or university If you are a new resident we require a copy of your ATAR certificate as soon as it is available. (Please do NOT send full school reports, only the ATAR certificate and a single page of overall results.
• A character reference from an academic or professional referee together with their contact details. Please ensure that this does not go over one page in length.

• If not self-funded, a copy of your parent's latest Tax Assessment only (Please do not send the full tax return

Your child has applied for a Scholarship at Burgmann College for 2025.

Financial need is a criterion in selecting both bursaries and scholarships; but it is a primary factor with respect to bursaries. To assist the College's Bursary and Scholarships Sub-committee in its deliberations, you are requested to provide information on the financial aid you propose to give to your child on the form below. Both parents/guardians are to provide the information, together or separately, as appropriate.

A copy of your last Income Tax Assessment must be provided (year ending 30 June 2024).

Please do NOT send the whole Tax return - simply the ATO Assessment.

Applications cannot be considered without this information.
