The CEO is responsible for all operations of the organisation including all programming and activities as well as all fundraising activities in Hong Kong. Reporting directly to the Board, s/he develops, drives and delivers the organisational strategy for Save the Children Hong Kong, in alignment with Save the Children’s global strategy and priorities, ensuring the organisation anticipates trends and achieves annual targets in programming, advocacy, fundraising, marketing and communication.
S/He is responsible for overseeing and participating in fundraising from all segments of the community including individuals, corporates, foundations, major donors, government as well as fundraising events to maintain and grow the revenue base of the organisation.
S/He is also responsible for overseeing International and Domestic Programming activities, Communications, Advocacy and all supporting functions including Finance, HR and IT. In this capacity, s/he will work closely with colleagues from the global Save the Children movement to ensure coordinated approach and effective implementation.
The senior management team including the Director of Partnership and Philanthropy, Director of International Programs, Director of Domestic Program, and the CFO will be reporting to her/ him.
SCOPE OF THE CEO ROLE:
Leadership:
- Lead the Senior Management Team
- Ensure effective relationships and ways of working between different functions and foster and cultivate a collaborative team culture
- Lead a team of >60 staff and be accountable for operational stewardship, donor development, relationship building, brand profile and strategic business partnering as well as impactful international and domestic programming, communications and advocacy
- Partner with all Board Members and all Committees to deliver organisational targets
- Strong and decisive leadership on strategic direction, risks and cost control, and team development and retention
- Communicate core mission and objectives clearly and articulately to furnish the Board, key donors and other stakeholders with a clear understanding of the issues and opportunities
- Be the public face of Save The Children at media and other events
- Ensure effective collaborations across all internal and external stakeholders relationships including Patron, Ambassadors, Advocates as well as Save the Children International colleagues and other Member offices
- Seek and build strategic partnerships with other organisations that can help Save the Children achieve its mission, including domestic service providers, national and international NGOs, government departments, major donors and the media
- Encourage and foster a culture of innovation in the area of programming as well as fundraising, leveraging knowledge and understanding of latest industry trends and experiences
Partnerships, Philanthropy and Branding:
- Work with Director, Partnerships and Philanthropy to formulate and deliver fundraising strategy
- Support and mentor Partnerships and Philanthropy team in all areas of fundraising and events management which includes individual fundraising, digital fundraising, donor services, corporate and foundations fundraising, major donors, events and celebrities' engagement
- Support and mentor Marketing and Communications team in areas of protecting and enhancing the profile and brand of Save the Children Hong Kong, via media appearances and top-level engagement with Government, business, the general public and other NGOs, and where appropriate using online and mobile platforms to deliver key messages
Programmes & Advocacy:
- Work with Director, International Programmes and Domestic Programme Director to formulate and deliver programming and advocacy strategy
- Support and mentor International Programmes team and Domestic Programmes team in areas of domestic and international programming, monitoring, assessment and learning, evaluation and advocacy
- Ensure Save the Children Hong Kong actively participates in, aligns with, and contributes to strengthening the global Save the Children movement
Governance and Operational:
- Work with CFO to strengthen processes effectiveness and efficiency and proactive risk management in all support functions including Finance, HR, IT, Board Governance and Admin to ensure that the organisation adheres to all relevant national laws as well as legal agreements with national and international affiliates.
