No previous knowledge is required.

Participants will learn how to create bioplastics from any type of organic waste. We will talk about the multiple possibilities offered by these new biomaterials and the benefits they have in substitution to other synthetic materials, all this to design and implement new sustainable solutions focused on the needs of people and the planet. 

Bioplastics are the ecological alternative to plastic as they are degradable, equally resistant and versatile. These new biomaterials are already being used in the foodservice, textile, architecture and product design sectors.

CONTENTS AND PLANNING FOR THE ADULT'S WORKSHOP 

1. WE'LL TALK ABOUT US - 10min

Who we are, how Agro Biomaterials was born and what is its purpose. What kind of projects we usually participate in and why, and finally where we want to go.

 

2. BIOMATERIALS - 30min

What is a biomaterial, what types exist and what differentiates them from other synthetic materials. We will talk about their characteristics and properties and what are their future applications.

 

3. INFLUENCES AND REFERENCES - 10min

Influences and references within the sector. From designers, companies, artists to organizations.

 

4. INGREDIENTS, TOOLS AND WORKING SPACE - 10min
Necessary ingredients for the elaboration of bioplastics as well as the importance of the proportions. We will talk about the properties that each ingredient provides and why. Finally we will mention the necessary tools.

 

5. RECIPE FOR THE PREPARATION OF BIOPLÀSTICS - 40 minutes
Step by step recipe to obtain bioplastic from organic waste.

 

6. FINAL FINISHES AND POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS - 20min
Techniques and possible final finishes. We will show possible real applications of the biomaterial and discuss future applications.

 

The children's workshop will follow the same structure but is one hour long.
