Ceramic Spring Workshop:
Monday & Wednesday, Nov 11th & 13th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Join instructor Ashley C, at Umpqua Valley Arts' The Clay Place for a new ceramics workshop!!
UVA is bringing back this fun and explorative two-day workshop for the Fall! Students will be able to learn basic slab building skills with clay while exploring their skills in design and creativity. On day one, instructor Ashley C will guide students through the basics of attaching together slabs to build taller forms such as a planter or a vase. During this process, students can carve or stamp patterns or textures into their clay to explore different design elements with their work. The work will then be covered lightly to dry and prepare for day two, where the students will finish building their forms and add any finishing embellishments that they would like to add to their piece. Students will then choose an underglaze wash to be applied to the piece, and UVA Staff will apply the wash and fire it for them.
This class is a great skill building opportunity for beginning artists, but is great fun for students of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced ceramic artist, you’ll love exploring textures and creating your very own planter or vase.
Suggested for students ages 15 and up, no experience is necessary. Cost of class includes all instruction and materials.
