Through the KCA Construction Education Foundation, the Kansas Contractors Association awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 for Kansas students pursuing a degree program and career path related to heavy & highway construction at an accredited Kansas university, college, community college or technical college.
What is Heavy Construction?
Think of “planes, trains and automobiles.” Heavy construction involves building infrastructure, such as highways, bridges, utilities, railroads, clean and waste water systems, and airports.
Eligibility:
Student must be enrolled or intending to enroll in an accredited Kansas university, college, community college or technical college for the 2025-2026 school year in a degree program related to heavy construction. Examples include construction management, surveying, heavy equipment operation, welding, bridge/highway engineering or another field of study with the intent to work in the heavy & highway construction industry.
Preference is given to students who have completed an internship or intend to complete an internship with a Kansas heavy construction contractor that is a member of the Kansas Contractors Association.

Scholarship Determination:
The number and dollar amount of awards will be determined by KCA’s Construction Education Foundation Board of Directors based on the availability of funds and number of applications received. All complete applications received by the deadline will be considered. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s college or university financial aid office in their name for disbursement.
Internship Option:
