Near North Mobile Media Lab is hosting this creation opportunity with NAISA Artistic Director and Sound Artist Darren Copeland. He will lead participants through the process of recording the sounds of ice on Lake Nipissing in North Bay. He will assist participants with composing a pre-recorded audio piece using those sounds (along with any texts or additional sounds) that considers the Ice Follies 2025 theme “The Ice is Slippery”.
Workshop Details:
Dates: Sessions will be held on Dec 7, 2024, Jan 11, Jan 18, and Jan 25, 2025.
Time: Each session will run from 1 PM to 4 PM.
Location: Near North Mobile Media Lab office, 205-269 Main Street West, North Bay.
Some of these sessions will include recording sounds on Lake Nipissing.
Honorarium: Participants who complete an audio piece will receive a $300 presentation honorarium.
All equipment will be provided, and no prior experience is required. Spaces are limited to 5 participants. Completed works will be featured at a listening party during Ice Follies in February 2025 and will also be made available online.
