What is a CWPP?
A Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) enables a community to plan how it will reduce the risk of wildfire. These plans describe the current wildfire situation and its potential impact on man-made and watershed resources, analyze infrastructure that protects resources, and identify community and agency led methods to reduce wildland fuels and increase fire protection county-wide.
2025 Tehama County CWPP Update
In 2023, the USDA Forest Service awarded the RCDTC through the Community Wildfire Defense Grant program to update the 2017 Tehama East/Tehama West CWPP. The Tehama County CWPP Update will support local entities' efforts to reduce wildfire risk to communities and local resources. The update is anticipated to be completed within two years (December 2025).
Why contribute to the CWPP?
Including a project(s) in a CWPP often opens more doors to grant opportunities/available funding for project work. This collaborative planning process also helps land managers and communities become aware of, and contribute to, ongoing or planned wildfire mitigation efforts, and how to advance fire-adapted communities, among numerous other benefits.
