ACCESSIBILITY ONSITE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Role Overview:
As an Onsite Events Accessibility Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing all accessibility strategies during events. Your role involves ensuring that outdoor venues and services are inclusive and accommodating for individuals with diverse needs, particularly those in the d/Deaf, Disabled, and Neurodivergent communities. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including event organisers, vendors, and participants, to create an onsite environment that promotes equal opportunities and positive experiences for all attendees. You will lead all onsite aspects of accessibility, respond to accessibility enquiries, and support the delivery of accessibility services at several UK events as stated in your contract offer.
Reports to:
- Accessible Events Company Director & Operations Manager
- Event Operations Manager
- Event Site Manager or the allocated Accessibility Lead
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough accessibility assessments for onsite event venues and recommend and implement necessary adjustments to meet accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with event organisers to incorporate accessible features into onsite event planning, such as accessible seating, sign language interpreters, and other accommodations.
- Work closely with vendors and service providers to ensure their services and facilities comply with onsite accessibility requirements.
- Deliver onsite training for event staff on accessibility best practices and awareness where required.
- Maintain onsite accessibility policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Act as a point of contact for attendees with onsite accessibility needs, providing support and assistance throughout the event.
- Provide status updates, as required, to the Accessibility Coordinator, Operations Manager and Site Manager.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of onsite accessibility initiatives and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Be responsible for any onsite Accessibility assets and equipment.
- Brief, task and support other Accessibility staff and volunteers.
- Confident on radio ettiquette and have the ability to show others such as volunteers.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in onsite event management, with a focus on accessibility.
In-depth knowledge of onsite accessibility regulations, including the Equality Act 2010.
- Clear understanding of the Social Model of disability and how to implement it in everyday situations.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Attitude Is Everything’s Live Event's Charter.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to address onsite accessibility challenges.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and adaptive strategies.
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Google docs form builders and data analysis.
- Proficient in Events management software such as Eventree, Festival Pro, etc.
- Experience in managing volunteers.
- Understanding of GDPR and handling sensitive information.
- Basic knowledge of Crowd Management, Site Management and Health & Safety.
- Responsible for all site equipment including Radios and accessories.
ACCESSIBILITY ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accessibility Team are responsible for making sure that all customers with access needs/disabilities have an enjoyable experience whilst attending ticketed events.
Responsibilities and skills required (but are not limited to):
- Managing and coordinating all access facilities and liaising with contractors onsite
- Managing and marking out site provisions
- Coordinate signage across the site
- Assist with managing the accessibility inbox and responding to queries and phone calls
- Dealing with all customer relations
- Be confident and able to use Excel and Google Docs and Sheets
- Proficient in Event management software such as Eventree, Festival Pro, Jotform, etc.
- Experience in managing volunteers and rotas.
- Understanding of GDPR and handling sensitive information.
- Distributing access information packs
- Ensuring all access facilities are all equipped: toilet’s locked, lighting, sanitation, marking out viewing platforms, signage and seating, etc
- Making and distributing signage accordingly
- Able to grasp a thorough knowledge of the location of all access facilities across each site
- Setting up the Accessible Box Office
- Brief the parking stewards, security and other teams on the location of the accessibility Box Office and other access facilities.
- Providing a friendly, reliable point of contact for accessible attendees.
- Confident on radio ettiquette and have the ability to show others such as volunteers.
- Responsible for daily radio team allocations.
