FAQ

Who can be confirmed by the bishop at a vicariate Confirmation Mass?
1. Baptized Catholics who have reached the normative age (junior year of high school) or have received permission from the bishop to be confirmed at a younger age;
2. Adults and children seven or older who were baptized non-Catholic, or baptized Catholic but raised in a non-Catholic community, who seek full communion with the Catholic Church;
3. Adults who were baptized Catholic but never received further catechesis nor first Eucharist or confirmation;
4. Adults who were baptized Catholic, received first Eucharist, but have not yet been confirmed.
Can a priest confirm anyone at their parish?

A pastor, parochial vicar, or sacramental minister - by virtue of their office - can receive into full communion and confirm those in category (2) at any time throughout the year or at the Easter Vigil.

A pastor, parochial vicar, or sacramental minister can confirm those in category (3) at the Easter Vigil only. They must request the faculty to confirm those in category (3) outside of the Easter Vigil.

Priests must always request the faculty to confirm those in category (1) and (4) at their parish.

Instructions for filling out this form
1. A parish representative should register people.
2. If you are registering people from multiple parishes, submit a new form for each parish.
3. If the person is in category (2) and will need to be received into full communion by the bishop at the Confirmation Mass, please check "yes" for that question below. For everyone else who is already Catholic, check "no."
4. The information entered below will be used to create certificates, name tags, programs, and notification letters to parishes of baptism.
- Please double-check information from a recent copy of the baptismal certificate issued by their parish of baptism or your parish baptismal register book;
- Please double-check the correct spelling of all names;
- Use proper capitalization (do not use all caps or all lower case);
- Confirmation names must be Christian names. If a confirmand does not desire an additional confirmation name, please re-type their first name as their confirmation name;
- Type only the first name of the confirmation name. Do not include "St." or other information like "of Calcutta";
- Parents' names MUST match the information on the confirmand's baptismal certificate.
