For the Reclaim MLK 2025 March, Don’t Shoot Portland is holding an open call for bold art submissions for a community collection of works that pay homage to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.‘s Dream while addressing todays’ global fight for human rights & justice. Submitted works will be processed into screen prints to be used as protest art during our annual March in January 2025, coinciding with Inauguration Day. Reclaim MLK is a community focused event that supports our Children’s Art and Social Justice Council, a youth led movement for social change. Persons of all ages are welcome to submit work with 5 winners under 21 years of age to be selected to encourage youth participation. Winners will receive up to $1,000 in cash and gift cards to Black owned businesses and art supply stores.This open call is about more than elevating crucial art messages and is an opportunity to unify the community through mutual aid, collaboration and direct action.
