The February PHS Deployment Role Training will focus on the skills required to assume the Case Management Role. This training is a pilot course and is open to officers stationed in the DC metro area only.

Application for Training:
There is no tuition associated with this preparedness training. The selected Public Health Service officer’s agency is responsible for continuing to pay their salary/benefits.
Officers accepting an assignment to attend this training are expected to attend and complete the entire 5-day session as well as any designated asynchronous pre-work posted.
Agency work is not permitted during training hours. Absences due to appointments or meetings will not be permitted. Emergency absences will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Unexcused absences will result in removal from the course.
If you are interested in attending this training, you must submit an online training application, as well as the following supporting items/documents.
*Important Notes:
- Officers are not permitted to self fund for this training.
- No CEUs or clinical practice hours will be given for the Case Management training.
- Officers can attend this training during their on-call deployment month.

- No active Adverse Actions
Application Materials (All Officers):
- Submit online training application
- Submit a letter of interest (maximum 1 page) explaining:
- Why you would be a good fit for this training
- Your deployment experiences if any
- Available COER scores, up to 3 years, via screenshot of your PIR
- If commissioned less than 3 years, then all available COER scores
- If you are a newly commissioned officer who does not have COER scores available, please note this in your letter of interest.

If your application is approved and you are invited to attend the PHS Deployment Role Training, you will be required to submit the following prerequisites.
FEMA ICS Courses
IS-100.C: Introduction to Incident Command System (previously IS-100.B)
IC-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (previously IS-200.B)
IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (NIMS) (previously IS-700.A)
IS-800.D: National Response Framework (NFR), An Introduction
If your FEMA certificates are older than 1 February 2022 (3 years), you MUST retake the required courses.
Psychological First Aid (PFA)
All participants for the PHS Deployment Role Training are required to complete this training prior to the training.
This is a FREE asynchronous 5hr online training and will provide 5 CEUs for a few accrediting bodies.

Cultural Competency Deployment Refresher
All participants for the PHS Deployment Role Training are required to complete this refresher cultural competency course prior to the training. This training will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
