Waycross - Ware County Christmas Parade 2024

Theme: Christmas Through The Years

Entries are now being accepted for this year’s Waycross - Ware County Christmas Parade which will be held on Friday, December 13 at 6:30 PM.

• Float Competition: We are looking for high quality floats that reflect this year’s theme Christmas Through The Years.” Competing floats MUST demonstrate the theme and incorporate lots of color and lights.

• Deadline for entry is Friday, December 6, 2024. The entry fee will be a non-refundable amount of $10.00 and a non-refundable late fee of $25.00 will be incurred for all entries submitted after the deadline. No entries will be accepted after December 12.

Spread the word: All businesses, community organizations, churches, and schools are encouraged to take part in the festivities by entering a float for the competition.

Please review the following information and discuss with all participants in the parade. It is very important to the success of the parade and the full enjoyment and safety of all participants and spectators that all participants in the parade know their responsibilities. Participation will not be allowed if you fail to comply to with these simple instructions.

• The parade will begin from Pernell Roberts Park (formerly known as Mary Street Park Only vehicles and floats in the parade will be allowed in the park. Lineup will begin at 3:00 PM on December 13. Large entries are encouraged to arrive early. Vehicles delivering bands and participants must park outside of the staging area on available street space. Please arrive no later than 5:45 PM.
• Entries with music may test their sound system on arrival but are to turn off the music until they reach the starting point of the parade on Elizabeth Street. Music selections are limited to holiday music ONLY.
• Parade judging occurs at the Rail Depot soon after the parade turns onto Plant Avenue. Look for a parade official to instruct you to pause for judging and pictures.
• No throwing candy, etc. from vehicles THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. People may walk alongside the float/vehicle to disperse candy, etc.
• No semis or other big/tall vehicles that have limited ground visibility or braking issues are allowed.
• All walking groups MUST have adult supervision.
• ALL PARADE ENTRIES (NOT JUST FLOATS) must be decorated and lighted to participate in the parade. Units not properly decorated will be turned away.
• Participants must portray the theme “Christmas Around The World” to be eligible for prize money.
• Do not include a “Santa” on your entry. This honor is reserved for the parade Santa who is at the end of the parade.

• Participants riding in vehicles or trailers must provide their own vehicles and drivers. Insurance and liability are the sole responsibility of the participants.
• Masks are highly recommended.

All prize money has been graciously donated by our sponsors. Participants will have the opportunity to win in the following categories:

Floats: 1st - $200, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50 

**** The Parade Committee reserves the right to reject all applicants. Location of entry in the parade is the responsibility of the parade committee. Changes may be made during parade line up. ****

LIBILITY WAIVER FOR PARTICIPANTS

As a participant or group representative in the Waycross - Ware County Christmas Parade 2024, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks or physical injury and I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, including death, damages, loss which I sustain because of participating in all activities connected or associated with the parade. I do hereby fully release and discharge the Waycross - Ware County Chamber of Commerce and City of Waycross, their officers, agents, volunteers, and employees from all claims from injuries, including death, damage or loss which I may have, or which may occur to me on account of my participation in the parade. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless and defend the Waycross - Ware County Chamber of Commerce and City of Waycross, their agents, volunteers, and employees from all claims resulting from injuries, including death and losses sustained by and arising out of, connected with or in any way associated with the parade.
