North Florida Archers Sexual Abuse Reporting Guidelines
April 5, 2021
The purpose of this document will be to outline the steps that will be taken in the event that an incident of sexual abuse occurs or is reported on North Florida Archers property.
As a matter of policy, all club officers will become familiar with this document and the procedures outlined herein. All club officers will sign a letter of understanding and acknowledgement of this policy.
All club officers will undergo a criminal background check. This background check will be provided at club expense and must be completed within 14 days of assuming duties.
GUIDELINES:
A. In the event of a report of a sexual abuse allegation, The Club President and/or Chairman of the Board of Directors will be notified immediately.
B. The Club President and Chairman will investigate and attempt to verify the incident.
C. North Florida Archers has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse/harassment – this is considered unacceptable behavior. If an individual is accused and found guilty of such activity:
C-1 Once the incident is verified, North Florida Archers will immediately notify the appropriate law enforcement agency with all known details of the incident.
C-2 If the alleged abuser is a member of the club, he/she will immediately be suspended and have no access to club property.
C-3 If the suspected abuser is charged their membership will be permanently revoked.
D. Grooming behaviors and characteristics of abusers:
Grooming is the process used by an abuser to select a child, win the child's trust (and the trust of the child’s parent/guardian), manipulate the child into sexual activity and keep the child from disclosing the abuse.
D-1 Because sexual abusers 'groom' children for abuse, it is possible a club officer or volunteer may witness behavior intended to 'groom' a child for sexual abuse. Club officers and volunteers are asked to report 'grooming' behavior, any policy violations, or any suspicious behaviors to the club president or chairman of the board of this organization.
D-2 At no time are children allowed to be at our facility without a parent/guardian. Parents/Guardians are to stay with children no matter where they go on our archery range, practice area or actual range.
E. Protocol for response to victims (in addition to notifying appropriate authorities, provide information to allow the victim to obtain assistance, and counseling options)
