I accept ownership of the above cat(s) and agree to the following terms of adoption:
- I shall house the cat in my home as a companion. I shall not sell, give away, surrender to any shelter, "gift" the cat to anyone else, nor shall I abandon the cat in any way.
- I shall provide proper and sufficient housing, food, water, exercise, and treatment at all times for the cat.
- I shall provide proper and appropriate veterinary treatment at my expense when needed. If I need guidance regarding veterinary treatment, I may reach out to Maria Meows directly.
- I understand and acknowledge that ringworm is a skin fungus, similar to an athlete's foot, not an intestinal parasite or disease. Ringworm is contagious and may be passed from pet to pet or person. Since there is a three-week incubation period, it is possible to adopt a cat or kitten who shows no clinical signs at the time of adoption, and ringworm could potentially appear after adoption.
- I acknowledge that cats are susceptible to upper respiratory infections, particularly after stressful situations, and it is possible to adopt a pet who shows no current clinical signs. It will be the responsibility of the owner to treat should one occur
- I understand that in no case will reimbursement be made for rabies, distemper, or leukemia shots; stool checks; or worming medication; treatment of fleas, ear mites, or ringworm; or any other medical charge.
- I shall not permit the cat outdoors unless in an enclosed area. This includes leash-walking or taking the cat outside on a leash at all, as well as not allowing the cat outdoors, whether supervised or unsupervised.
- I will not declaw this cat, but will contact Maria Meows for safe alternatives if needed.
- I understand that my adoption fee goes toward Maria Meows’ work in caring for cats and is not refundable. However, if a cat turns out to be unsuitable for me, I agree to return it to Maria Meows and understand that I may be entitled to exchange it for another cat within three months of its return.
- I agree that I shall relinquish ownership and control of the cat to Maria Meows if:
a. I cannot keep it for any reason.
b. Any information provided by me to Maria Meows proves to be incomplete or inaccurate.
c. An authorized representative of Maria Meows or any authority examines the cat and/or its living conditions and demands its surrender.
- I understand that Maria Meows recommends taking the newly adopted animal to my own vet within the first month of ownership for an overall check-up and to establish a relationship between the cat and the veterinarian.
- I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Maria Meows and its directors, officers, employees, agents, and assigns from and against any and all claims, losses, liabilities, injury or death, and/or damages arising from or related to this adoption from Maria Meows, including but not limited to any claims brought by third parties for any losses, liabilities, injury or death, and/or damages arising out of or related to this adoption. This indemnification shall not apply to any claims arising solely from the negligence of Maria Meows.
- All adopters must be 25-years of age or older.
I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the conditions stated above:
